Advisor to CM on Information, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, Visits Rescue 1122 Provincial Headquarters Peshawar Peshawar — Advisor to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Information, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, paid a special visit to the Provincial Headquarters of Rescue 1122 in Peshawar. He was warmly received by Director General Rescue 1122, Mr. Muhammad Tayyab Abdullah, and presented with a guard of honour. During the visit, Barrister Saif toured the "Wall of Heroes" and the "Provincial Monitoring Cell (PMC)". In a ceremony held on this occasion, certificates were awarded to Rescue 1122 personnel in recognition of their outstanding performance. The Director General briefed the Advisor on the department’s overall performance, recent initiatives, and operational statistics. He noted that this was the first visit by a government official after the recent Swat incident, highlighting Barrister Saif’s personal initiative to boost the morale of Rescue staff. The briefing revealed that, in view of recent monsoon rains and drowning incidents, 60 temporary Water Rescue Points have been established in 13 sensitive districts, staffed with 129 temporary rescue divers. The total number of divers now stands at 246. Rescue 1122 currently has over 6,000 staff members, 10,668 operational equipment units, 1,026 vehicles including ambulances and fire vehicles, 176 stations, and 1,009 volunteers. Following the establishment of the 60 temporary water rescue points, 73 drowning incidents were reported in just one month, affecting 365 individuals — of which 292 were rescued safely, 57 bodies recovered, and 16 people remain missing. To date, Rescue 1122 has saved 1,595,974 valuable lives and responded to 214,034 road traffic accidents, 994,266 medical emergencies, over 7,200 COVID-19 cases, 38,115 fire incidents, 25,443 crime-related emergencies, 2,029 building collapse incidents, 4,944 drowning cases, 40,683 recovery operations, and 1,452 explosions of various nature. Barrister Saif highly praised Rescue 1122’s services, noting that the organisation not only provides timely assistance during emergencies but also plays an active role in the mental and psychological rehabilitation of victims. He assured full cooperation from the Department of Information to promote the organisation’s work. He further announced that medical and fire safety training for Information Department employees will begin under Rescue 1122, and that if advanced training is required for Rescue personnel, international trainers will be invited. Cooperation will also be sought from Japan and other international volunteer platforms to further improve services. Barrister Saif emphasised that trained Rescue 1122 personnel should be granted additional marks in higher education and government recruitment as formal recognition of their services. He added that Islam places great emphasis on serving humanity — including animals — and stressed the importance of further empowering female staff through specialised training. He also announced that the “Radio Pakhtunkhwa” platform will be made available for Rescue 1122 to highlight the services of its personnel across the province. At the conclusion of the visit, the Director General Rescue 1122 thanked the guests and presented a commemorative shield to Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif.August 07,2025
